I'm very excited to start my Instructional Design blog. I have been in education for 20 years and recently received my Instructional Design and Technology degree. In this blog I will share ideas, facts, and techniques about instructional design as well as how to incorporate technology in the classroom. A few years ago, I was asked to do a pilot program at a local high school using iPads in the classroom. Of course I was excited! Who wouldn't want to have an iPad? That excitement slowly started to fade as I found myself drowning in apps and technology. I spent countless nights researching how to use certain programs and apps. After hours spent designing a lesson using the iPads, the next day the server was down at the school or students wouldn't bring them to class. I was so ANGRY at technology. Students felt my frustration and HATED using the iPads. They begged not to use it. After the year I used the iPads, I felt done with technology.

There had to be a better way to incorporate technology. I knew this could be a powerful tool, but how could I use technology to its full potential. I didn't have the time to invest or the knowledge to figure this out on my own. That is when I began a second master's degree in Instructional design. I have a passion for education and a desire to help people. I want to show educators the potential that technology will bring to the classroom.
Keep checking back to learn more about how to incorporate technology in your classroom.
